1 Initial Set-up
Please follow the Nintendo Wii instruction manual for details on how to unpack / install the console and various components, as well as instructions on how to sync the Wii-remote with the Wii. Once you've done this you should be taken through a series of on-screen set-up tasks, most of which are self explanatory, but for the avoidance of doubt:
1.1 Language

Set this as English
1.2 Sensor Bar Position

If you are setting up the Wii prior to installation in someone's home, set this as Above TV. You can always change this in Wii Settings within the Wii Options Menu, should the positioning of the sensor bar be different once installed.
1.3 Date

Set this as today's date.
1.4 Time

Set this as the current time.
1.5 Widescreen

Set this as Widescreen (16:9) even if the TV the Wii is to be used with is only 4:3.
1.6 Nickname

Use the on-screen keyboard to give your console a nickname.
1.7 Country

Set this as United Kingdom.
1.8 Parental Controls

Set this as No.
 | Please note
Any of the above initial set-up tasks can be re-configured in Wii Settings within the Wii Options Menu. |

You will now be asked to enter a password or key. Details of the router's SSID and password/key should be supplied with the router. Once you press OK, a Connection Test will begin.
