Problems With Crest Logos
Some 'crest' logo designs are causing a couple of problems on the Looking Local platform. The TV doesn't display colours or shape in the same way as the web and some detail is lost.
Thin lines will cause flicker which can be problematic to a user who looks at it for any length. The recommend width for a single line is 2-3 pixels.
The crests often have several 1 pixel lines which flicker when displayed on TV. Also due the size requirements for the logos, the Crests appear rather small on the TV so much of the detail is lost. Solid colours are much more effective and striking.
You can never exactly predict the amount of flicker that might appear, however the danger is that the Service Providers (Sky/Virgin) could take exception to some logos. To avoid this, a rethink on your crest logo should be considered.
