The role of TV

If you're reading this, then you have probably followed a link from the recent PIF newsletter or website. You are no doubt wondering what this is all about and how TV could play a significant role in delivering improved health outcomes in your respective communities.

Over 95 local public sector organisations are already using the Looking Local service to widen their reach to the digitally excluded. The service started life as a technology that helped local authorities deliver front line services on SKY and Virgin Media. Now also available on mobile phones and the Nintendo Wii, it has expanded significantly beyond this to encompass a wider range of other local public services including health trusts, housing associations and transport executives. From booking a GP appointment, to finding a home, looking for a job and getting health advice - with everything in between - digital television is a now very real option for all of us responsible for delivering local public services. Kirklees council, who provide the Looking Local service in the UK, are no different.

We would encourage you to take a look at this website and get in touch with us to arrange a local briefing for you and your colleagues so you can see for yourselves how 'digital' no longer just means 'computer' - enabling many more people with the ability to help themselves, using technology that they are familiar and comfortable with.

There is a lot of useful information on this site about who is using DiTV and mobile phones and what works well. A good place to start might be on our health business case pages, which gives the headlines of what health partners are doing on DiTV and mobile today.
