TV is the channel of choice for a growing number of people

Looking Local has been running a series of questionnaires on TV asking people what they want from public sector on DiTV, what they like, didn't like on Looking Local, how often they use interactive services in general etc.

The results show that an increasing number of people regularly use DiTV and want government services on additional channels. We see these results as further proof that people are using DiTV for public services, find it easy to use and would otherwise use more expensive communication channels.

Headlines from questionnaire run between July-Nov 2010 showed:

  • 59% of Looking Local users, used interactive TV very regularly ('all the time', daily or weekly)
  • 82% said DiTV was easy to use
  • Nearly 50% of our users are repeat customers
  • 75% said using Looking Local was easy
  • 45% had no internet access and 37% had no new media skills
  • 30% of people said government services on TV were very important to them
  • Over 55% said they traditionally would call their council to undertake their business, 16% in person and still 6% by letter
  • 70% said they would use Looking Local again
  • Highest user group in terms of age was 50-59 (25%)

In addition to these questionnaire results hundreds of people responded to a competition run across all welsh sites on Looking Local in the Summer of 2010. When asked what they liked about Looking Local there were some great responses, proving that the service is reaching the type of people who really need it, that the services are well chosen and easy to access.

"Being able to access local services and information at the press of a button, great service, well done."
"I can't believe that it is so easy to find the information I want - from the TV!!!"
"It's convenient for finding information out of working hours when you are unable to contact an office via the telephone, information is available at the touch of a button."
"The site is user friendly and helps find information in a timely manner. It is well laid out and I will certainly use it again."
"Fantastic way to get council information and I don't have to move from the sofa!"
"This site gives you helpful information, about jobs, transport, health etc. It's a great site for all ages to explore, it gives society a chance good informative, valued information that they may need."
"Ease of availability in accessing vital services throughout the borough and the fact that I don't have to leave the comfort of my home. It is truly an amazing innovation."
