Legal Aid for criminal matters is designed to financially assist members of the public who have been charged with a criminal offence and are unable to afford the services of an Advocate.
Civil legal aid is a scheme designed to enable a person to have access to legal representation by an Advocate in Court proceedings. The purpose of civil legal aid is to provide funding to those whose means would not otherwise permit them to obtain the services of an Advocate.
