Clearing the way for the future

Gardening skills are not just for leisure time. A group of young people from March have worked clearing the overgrown grounds of St Mary’s House sheltered scheme in Whittlesey in a project designed to prepare them for employment.

This is the latest ‘work experience’ project organised by Roddons Housing Association in partnership with Apollo in a bid to give young people at local schools a chance to develop skills in the workplace. The boys are students from Neale-Wade Community College in March

and have been working at the scheme every Thursday.

St Mary’s House was chosen for the project since residents were unable to do the work themselves.
