The community pilot project
INtouch began in July 2001 as a pilot project which was set up by Kirklees council and other local organisations. The aim of the project was to find out what local residents thought about using digital TV to access local services and information.
The pilot was paid for by the government's Invest to Save budget, and the site was first available on NTL digital from July 2002. Many organisations contributed to the pilot, including the council, local health authorities, Artimedia and the University of Huddersfield.
